Why us? And why you?

As a kind-hearted giver, we realize you have any number of deserving causes to which you can contribute. So why us? Why put money into a tiny wicker basket and place it into a stream to help some struggling teen or young adult, in a family you have never met and will likely never know? Maybe for that very reason. What better act of compassion is there than this? To help those in desperate need, who will appreciate it the most, while getting nothing in return, other than the glow inside knowing you’ve done something truly unselfish and beautiful.

And consider this. Your contribution will go 100% to the “transition care” of that teen or young adult. Unlike some charitable causes, we do not use your donation to fund operational needs or bricks-and-mortar issues. Your gift, every penny, either helps the family afford out-of-home treatment or aids them afterwards to reunite and thrive.

As for the question of “why you?” Maybe because of the story of The Basket. The family behind that story believes there are thousands of tales just like theirs. Only those families don’t have the funds to help their struggling kids. It’s why they’ve started this program with generous seed money, and hope that those just as fortunate will contribute with a donation of their own. Why not be the soil and the sun to that seed money, and watch it grow?

Why you? Because you’ve been blessed to be in a position to ask yourself, why not? Welcome aboard a mighty ship made of wicker.

Homeward Bound is a nation-wide group of specialized therapists who work with families of teens or young adults who: are struggling at home, are in out-of-home treatment, or are soon to complete treatment. Our success is distinguished by the fact that some of the best residential treatment programs in the country reach out to access our expertise and model for transitioning from treatment to home.
